Eurathlon 2015 Competition Will Mix Air, Land, and Sea Robots
Eurathlon is a robotic competition, supported by the European Commission in the FP7, through the eu-robotics association. The vision behind it is to provide real-world robotics challenges that will test the intelligence and autonomy of outdoor/off-road robots in demanding mock disaster-response scenarios. Inspired by the Fukushima disaster we envision a competition that requires autonomous flying, land and underwater robots acting together to survey the disaster, collect environmental data, and identify critical hazards.
In 2013 the competition had its focus on land based vehicles. While in 2014 the it addressed sea based vehicles, in 2015 Eurathlon will be held as a joined land, sea and air event. Registration is open!
Eurathlon has a tradition of data sharing. Organizers made public a repository of Common Shared Data Sets (CSDS) produced before and during the euRathlon competitions. This is a valuable pool for testing, benchmarking and comparison. The online CSDS repository includes data sets from the 2013 and 2014 competitions, as well as the first data set for 2015.
